9 May 2025

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to formalise a strategic partnership aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, financial awareness, and talent development among students and graduates.

The MoU was signed by UBD Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, and TAP Managing Director, Yang Mulia Haji Mohammad Adfarul bin Haji Maz Adnan, at a ceremony held at the UBD Administration Conference Room. The event was witnessed by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Industry Engagement and Enterprise Development, Yang Mulia Dr Haji Masairol bin Haji Masri, and TAP Chief Business Development Officer, Yang Mulia Puan Sarirani binti Abdul Ghani.

The collaboration will focus on increasing awareness and registration for TAP’s Skim Persaraan Kebangsaan for Self-Employed (SPK SE), supporting innovation and self-employment initiatives, facilitating student internships, and co-developing programmes for professional upskilling and capacity building. The partnership also explores the establishment of a joint laboratory facility at UBD to support shared research and training objectives.

The MoU provides a five-year framework for cooperation, with the flexibility for extension and adaptation to evolving institutional and national priorities. Both parties will designate liaison officers to oversee implementation and facilitate ongoing coordination.

This partnership reflects UBD and TAP’s shared commitment to advancing Brunei Darussalam’s human capital development, fostering innovation, and supporting the aspirations outlined in the nation’s economic and digital transformation agendas.
